Teens are naturally seeking independence as part of their growth. As mothers, it’s vital to support this process while maintaining emotional closeness. The key is to find a balance between offering guidance and allowing them space to make decisions.

Rather than being overly controlling, try asking questions like, “What do you think is the best way to handle this?” or “How can I help you with this?” Giving your teen room to make choices empowers them, and the respect they feel helps nurture your relationship.

Tip: Let your teen know you trust their judgment, even when it’s hard to step back.

This builds their confidence and keeps your emotional bond strong.
